MCDAC's Blog
We
posted some new entries on our blog at http://postsnet.com/r.html?c=756100&r=755389&t=387118452&l=1&d=87331534&u=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2emcdac%2eblogspot%2ecom&g=0&f=-1
and we invite you to take a look at them. We
have an entry on "Why Democrats Can Drive You
Crazy" and another one on "Political Psychology
101: The Politics of Insecurity." Since every
other Democratic blog has a post on the
Lamont-Lieberman race, we also posted one. (We
don't want to lose our Dem blog status) It's
called "Lieberman Doesn't Get It". Obviously we
weren't heartbroken with Lieberman's
defeat. Check them
out!

Governor's Race
Strickland raised more money than Blackwell during June & July despite Blackwell having Bush come in for a fundraising event. It has been a long time since a Democratic candidate for Ohio Governor raised more money than his Republican opponent.

Blackwell must pay Sandusky County Democratic Party's $65,000 legal fees after they successfully challenged his regulations. http://postsnet.com/r.html?c=756100&r=755389&t=387118452&l=1&d=87331538&u=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2etoledoblade%2ecom%2fapps%2fpbcs%2edll%2farticle%3fAID%3d%2f20060804%2fNEWS02%2f60804031%2f%2d1%2fNEWS&g=0&f=-1
Voinovich and Strickland team up against slot machine proposal. When is the last time you saw a Republican Senator team up with a Democratic gubernatorial candidate during an election year? Toledo Blade writer speculates that more than just opposition to gambling could be at work in this partnership. http://postsnet.com/r.html?c=756100&r=755389&t=387118452&l=1&d=87331530&u=http%3a%2f%2ftoledoblade%2ecom%2fapps%2fpbcs%2edll%2farticle%3fAID%3d%2f20060808%2fNEWS09%2f608080393&g=0&f=-1
Senate Race
Sherrod Brown continues to hold an eight point lead among Ohio voters according to the newest Survey USA poll reported by the Plain Dealer. What is interesting about this poll is that DeWine only holds 78% of the Republicans while Brown holds 82% of the Democrats. More about this poll here: http://postsnet.com/r.html?c=756100&r=755389&t=387118452&l=1&d=87331540&u=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2ewkyc%2ecom%2fnews%2fnews%5farticle%2easpx%3fstoryid%3d55368%26provider%3dtop&g=0&f=-1
So the Chairman of the RNC, Ken Mehlman, comes to Cleveland and calls Sherrod Brown Ohio's Ned Lamont AFTER Lamont just beat a three term incumbent in a fair election. Let's see, if Lamont beat an incumbent Senator using his opponent's support for Bush as his main message, and Brown is running against an incumbent Senator who supports Bush, and Brown is Ohio's Ned Lamont, then that must mean that DeWine is Ohio's Joe Lieberman. That equals a Brown win in November. http://postsnet.com/r.html?c=756100&r=755389&t=387118452&l=1&d=87331528&u=http%3a%2f%2fhotlineblog%2enationaljournal%2ecom%2farchives%2f2006%2f08%2fmehlman%5fsherrod%2ehtml&g=0&f=-1

Remember how Mitch Daniels, then Budget Director for Bush, said that the Iraqi war wouldn't exceed 100 billion? Well, according to the Christian Science Monitor, the cost of the operations in Iraq and Afghanistan will exceed two trillion. http://postsnet.com/r.html?c=756100&r=755389&t=387118452&l=1&d=87331532&u=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2ecsmonitor%2ecom%2f2006%2f0110%2fdailyUpdate%2ehtml&g=0&f=-1
