About Congresswoman Mary Jo Kilroy

Mary Jo Kilroy was elected to her first term in the United States House of Representatives in 2008.  The 15th District had not been represented by a Democrat since 1966.  It includes Madison County, Union County and the west side of Franklin County.

Rep. Kilroy was selected as a member of the powerful House Committee on Financial Services.  The Committee on Financial Services oversees all components of the nation’s housing and financial services sectors including banking, insurance, public and assisted housing, and the Federal Reserve Bank among others.  She also serves as a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security.

Rep. Kilroy grew up in Euclid, OH, the daughter of a pipe-fitter.  She is a graduate of Cleveland State University and The Ohio State University College of Law.  She and her husband Bob Handelman live in Columbus, Ohio.
