Coal Country Documentary  

Progressive Democrats of America's Ohio team is planning the Ohio premier of Coal Country by Akron's own documentary maker, Mari-Lynn Evans. She did the documentary "The Appalachians" that aired a few years ago on PBS. The new film is about Mountain Top Removal, one of the most egregious and devastating forms of mining. It's a powerful film, one that I believe will attract people from a distance concerned about this mining practice that has destroyed over 500 mountain tops, covered mile upon mile of streams, and polluted the water.

The premeir is set for Sept. 12th, 8 pm, at the historic Akron Civic Theater, 182 S Main St, Akron, OH 44308-1358, (330) 535-3179.  There will be a reception at the Civic before the movie for individual groups sponsors to meet the filmmaker and others.
