You may claim a credit against your Ohio income tax for contributions you made to a candidate for the Ohio Supreme Court.  The amount of the credit is the combined total contributions you made during the year to certain candidates for state office or $50 ($100 for married filing joint returns), whichever is less. Contributions are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. See the instructions to the Ohio income tax forms for more information.

Under Ohio law, individuals (spouses, individual attorneys, etc.) may contribute up to $3,450 to a candidate for the Ohio Supreme Court. Political Action Committees and law firms may contribute up to $6,325. Corporate contributions are prohibited.
