Meeting to Save Our Social Security

Where
Cleveland AFL-CIO

When
Jan 5, 2005   starts at 1:00 pm

Dear Friends:

The future of Social Security as we know it is being threatened. The danger is real and imminent. But it doesn’t come from too many Baby Boomers, a shortage of funds, people living older or greedy retirees. The danger to Social Security comes from the President, Congress and their corporate sponsors. They want to privatize the best-run government program this country has ever seen. The ultra-right and Corporate America have been planning to destroy Social Security for 20+ years. They feel now is the time to try it.

This is an issue that can be won, despite a hostile government. Nearly everyone, young and old, will be aversly affected if the President's plan is passed. We have no doubt that the people will rally to defend their Social Security system. We just have to organize them!

So, please attend the meeting on Wednesday, January 5th, 1:00 PM, at the Cleveland AFL-CIO, 3250 Euclid Avenue, in the basement hall. Free parking in rear.

Make sure your organization is represented if you can’t attend. Individuals who want to participate in building this coalition are also welcome. Tell others about the meeting. This will not be an educational forum or debate. We intend to prepare for immediate action to Save Our Social Security from the privateers.

Please let me know if you can attend and/or if you want to get further emails about this activity. (see email address below)

If you are from out of the area, please come if you can. If you are unable, we urge you to hold a similar meeting in your area as soon as possible.

Thank you.   John
