Regional Town Meeting - Voices & Choices

Rhodes Arena, University of Akron

When
Nov 12, 2005    9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Dear Medina County Democrats:

I am writing to personally invite you to a special once in a lifetime event that could change the face of Northeast Ohio.

More than 1,000 citizens from all walks of life throughout the 15-county region of Northeast Ohio will gather at the largest town-hall-style meeting ever convened in our state.

In simultaneous roundtable discussions of 10 to 12 participants, citizens will paint their vision for the region’s future, share their views about the region’s best assets, and come to agreement about its most pressing challenges.

Computer technology, allowing real-time participant feedback, will help identify similar views while building consensus among all 1,000 participants.

The goal of the event is to set a course for Northeast Ohio’s future that will produce more jobs and create better economic opportunities for families and businesses.

The Regional Town Meeting will take place on Saturday, November 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University of Akron’s Rhodes Arena.

The Regional Town Meeting scheduled for Saturday, November 12th is part of a multi-year project called Voices & Choices sponsored by a regional group called the Fund for Our Economic Future.

The Fund for Our Economic Future is a coalition of 68 philanthropic organizations from across Northeast Ohio dedicated to transforming the economy of Northeast Ohio.  To date these organizations have dedicated over $28 million toward the Fund’s economic development objectives.  Members of the Fund include the Akron Community Foundation, BP Fund of The Cleveland Foundation, Brentwood Foundation of Medina, Catholic Diocese of Cleveland Foundation, Cleveland Foundation, FirstEnergy Foundation, Forest City Enterprises Charitable Foundation, GAR Foundation, George Gund Foundation, and RPM International, Inc. Corporate Giving Program, just to name a few.

If you are interested in participating in this historic event, all you have to do is go the web address  http://www.voiceschoices.org/century_town_meeting.asp

As Democrats in Medina County, if we fail to offer our voice to this process, we will effectively be abdicating our civic responsibilities.  We've spent this year working on our own Strategic Initiative for a stronger Democratic Community in our County.

Now we have an opportunity to bring our ideas and concerns to a larger venue.

The 68 philanthropic organizations that make up the Fund for Our Economic Future will be directing their millions of dollars yearly to strategies identified in the Voices & Choices.  Shame on us if we don’t take this opportunity to make certain that Medina County’s voice has played an important role in shaping the choices of that agenda.

Please join me and let your voice be heard at the Regional Town Meeting on November 12th.

If you'd like more information, call me at 330-725-7487 or pam450@bright.net.

Thank you,

Pam Miller
Chairman, Medina County Democratic Party
