"I Had A Dream" by Beth Lawton
I had a dream last night: Sarah
Palin had been asked by John McCain to be his
running mate and this was her reply:
"Thank you. I am flattered
but for the sake of the country and my
family I must refuse. There are some
serious issues with my children at present and
I want to keep them out of the glare of the
national limelight. Also, I have not had
the opportunity to become familiar with
pressing domestic and international matters and
need to take more time to educate myself.
All I know about Washington is how to squeeze
out more money to bring home to Alaska. I need
to learn more about science and how to protect
our environment, not just exploit limited
resources. I know this is a
complicated and dangerous world and if, God
forbid, something were to happen to you and I
become president, I wouldn't want to make
terribly costly mistakes as the current
president has done.
Also, Mr McCain, I respect
your service and your experience, but I have
noticed you've been confused at times as to
facts, such as mixing up Sunni and Shia in Iraq
and not knowing which
countries border Iraq. You would be
better off with someone at your side who might
not be as good-looking, but would be better
informed and would help you keep things
straight."
Alas, it was only a dream.
