What Party Works Hardest for the People?

I cannot begin this letter without asking the following question:  Over the past 75 years which political party has religiously striven to denigrate and block most every social welfare program that has been proposed?

Beginning with the Social Security Act of 1935 through the passage of Medicare in 1965 which political party religiously honed the scare tactics against these visionary yet compassionate social programs?  They played to the fear of the time “creeping socialism”.

Shift then to the 1980’s when the then new administration adopted the slogan “Get government out of the way!”  Getting government out of the way was to cut taxes on the already highest corporate profits and citizen incomes while cutting welfare payments to the needy.

Deregulation of corporate America became the name of the game.  Again, “Get government out of the way; corporate America will regulate itself.”  This anti-union, anti-welfare (welfare to the needy that is) has marched forward to this day.  How often do we hear, “We can’t afford to pay for these entitlements; our deficit is out of sight; no more!!”

As for the blood we spill and the billions of dollars we spend attacking sovereign nations wherever we please all the while letting deregulation continue, we have all been told this will take us where we need to be.

If not where we need to be, the news of the last two weeks has surely told us where we are.  We the taxpayers are footing the bill for a deregulated corporate socialistic form of government.  I’ll let readers decide who worked hardest to get us here.
