Renacci's "Dangerous Ignorance" on Civil Rights Issues

Countdown with Keith Olbermann had an entire segment focused on Renacci's statements about civil rights.  On videotape, Renacci is shown saying that "We need to get federal government out of the way" on issues of civil rights.

His statement fails to recognize the crucial role played by the federal government in many of our most important civil rights decisions, such as desegregating schools and mandating fairness in housing.  The Civil Rights Act of 1964 granted many important rights, rights that local and state governments were unwilling to provide to their citizens.
