16th Congressional District - Who to Vote For
Again, as taxpayers and U.S.
citizens time is drawing near to make our best
judgment possible often without as much
knowledge of the candidates as we would
like. Add into our quest for knowledge
are many wild charges and countercharges by
both politicians and Gazette letter
writers. Case in point is the letter by
Charlie Paperone in this paper 9-16-010. Mr. Paperone certainly has
every right to disagree with 16th
District Congressman John Boccieri’s votes and
policies, but he just cannot resist jumping
into charges of “slimy, sleazy underbelly of
Democratic negative tactics.” And of
course I would presume Mr. Paperone believes
Republicans do not participate in the “slimy,
sleazy underbelly of negative tactics”, the
very thing that turns so many voters off. Mr. Paperone has decreed the
stimulus has failed, whereas very highly
respected investors and philanthropists Warren
Buffet and Bill Gates along with our best
economic advisors convincingly tell me the U.S.
and the world economy would have tanked without
it. As for the new healthcare plan, his
loud protest against it is akin to the screams
against Social Security and labor unions in the
1930’s, and Medicare in the 1960’s. I
grew up in the Great Depression. I have
been there. I have never met the
challenger to the 16th District Mr.
Renacci, former mayor of Wadsworth.
People whom I know in Wadsworth will not be
voting for him. My only experience with
the man an unanswered e-mail question. I have talked briefly with Mr.
Boccieri and an aide, Mr. Chris Cupples.
I support his vote for healthcare, am
impressed with his experience as a state
legislator, but disagree with his view on
Israel-Palestine. I admire his courage in
having served two tours in Iraq, and his being
a pilot in the Air Force Reserve. He gets
my vote. Buz Cormany
