Who does Senator DeWine Represent?

The Sunday, March 19, 2006 [Plain Dealer] article, "Sen. DeWine returns to campaign kitchen," attempted to portray the Senator as a moderate nice-guy, but DeWine's actions just three days earlier belie that image.  On Thursday, March 16th, in a little-publicized Senate vote, DeWine voted in favor of an amendment to the Budget Resolution that would have begun the privatization of Social Security.  The amendment, introduced by Sen. Jim DeMint, R-SC, would also have bankrupted the program for disability and survivors' benefits.  Only seven votes saved Social Security from going down the road to privatization.  Clearly, DeWine's vote proves that his allegiance is to the radical right wing ideology of the Republican Party and not to the people he purports to represent in Ohio.
