An Inconvenient Truth - Follow Up
7-16-06
In an earlier letter, 6-19-06, to our party's website, I related an interview I watched on WKYC, Ch 25 with talk show host Charley Rose and former democratic presidential candidate, Al Gore.
In the hour long interview, Mr. Gore was able to explain in detail his impassioned quest for action to deal with the world's global warming crisis. His purpose also was to promote both his book and his documentary film, "An Inconvenient Truth", which lays out his case in a meticulous scientific manner.
At the time the film played only at the Cedar-Lee theater in Cleveland, but when I learned last week it had opened at Regal Cinemas (20 minutes east of Medina) in Montrose, my son Erin and I lost no time getting there.
As tempting as it is, any glowing review I would give would be inadequate. My review, as positive as it might be, would be simply my opinion. You deserve and will receive much more than that when you attend. In addition to the world wide opinion of the scientific community, you will be presented fact after fact after fact in most every format imagine-able.
Again, after all the flak our party has received that we only offer criticism not productive new ideas and solutions, the release of this film at theaters all across America should be huge if we will but get the word out.
For some brief examples, if our state leadership can better address school funding problems, and effectively promote the minimum wage increase, and our national leadership can actually shine the light to the voters that mega corporations can no longer operate tax free, an environmental "Inconvenient Truth" message should complete the capture of America's consciousness and put us over the top.
To illuminate the Bush administration's
response to global warming, the documentary
points out that of all the nations offered the
opportunity to sign the Kyoto global warming
protocol, only Australia and The United Slates
refused. Also noted, not one world
respected scientist denied the facts that were
presented to make the case for global
warming.
Whatever method you use to learn what is playing at regional theaters, please act now for your own benefit, and also to promote this excellent documentary for the benefit of all of us. I expect it will come to Medina, but don't dally and miss it.
