TWO HEADED NICKELS

House Bill 626 sponsored by State Rep. Chuck Calvert perfectly describes his party’s solution to every problem – More Tax Cuts for the Rich. This despicable bill would give over $400 million in tax cuts (over three years) to the 1 percent of Ohioans who have an average annual income of $812,000. In the following years these friends of Ohio’s Republican Party would see an annual benefit of $187 million a year!

This bizarre piece of legislation has been proposed by Calvert in the waning days of his last (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) term. Mr. Calvert is not permitted to run for reelection this November because of term limits – Ohio voters have said Eight years is enough.  However, these servants of the Ultra-Rich can be awfully clever when it comes to breaking rules that the voters asked for.

The Republican Party appears to believe that the average regular non-wealthy Ohioan won’t remember this disgraceful Bill when Calvert runs again; oh, let’s say, eight years from now. Just like they are betting that the voters won’t remember that the Republican candidate to replace Calvert is William Batchelder Jr. whom was the State Rep. for the 30 years immediately preceding Calvert’s eight.

The voters said 8 years of legislative service is enough and Batchelder is running for his 31st and 32nd year – representing the interests of the 1 percent; although, ironically, the title of the seat is Representative.  Please remember whom he represents when you vote.

It is time to stop this corrupt and cynical team as they toggle this position between them. Like a two-headed nickel; it doesn’t matter which side lands up –they always win and you always lose.

The Calvert administration has done nothing to improve life for the 99 percent of Ohioans who average less than $812,000 per year, and Batchelder actually sponsored HB 920, which has devastated the Ohio school funding system, and is directly responsible for the funding crisis in Buckeye, Medina and the Cloverleaf School districts. Every time your school district comes to you for another levy, remember that Batchelder sent them.
