Carol Brenstuhl - Medina Municipal Court Clerk Candidate
With a 30-year career in the accounting field, Carol Brenstuhl understands how to run a business effectively and efficiently and she will bring that knowledge to the Medina Municipal Clerk’s office. She will work to obtain cost-savings for the taxpayers. Carol holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, a Master’s degree in Tax, and her career has included work at a Big 4 accounting firm and major international companies. A job promotion brought her to Medina County in 1999. She is currently Tax Manager for a North Canton company as well as a Tax Consultant for an international company headquartered in Wisconsin. Carol has always been an active community volunteer, devoting time to organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Special Olympics, the American Heart Association, Highland District Middle School PTO, Ducks Unlimited Medina County Chapter and the National Wildlife Turkey Association in Medina County. She volunteers with the Voices for Children Program in Lorain County. In addition, she has worked tirelessly to help get Democratic candidates elected at all levels, organizing the mailing of over 10,000 postcards and letters in the 2016 election alone. Jess Hazeltine - City Council Women Ward 1
Jessica Hazeltine currently serves as the Medina City Ward 1 Councilwoman, and is presently the only female on council. She is the 11th woman in the city’s 200-year history to serve on our council. She works with local non-profits in Marketing and Event Coordinating, and she is the artist and owner of a small business, J.Scribbs Custom Hand Lettering and Calligraphy, LLC. She is an Ohio Certified Peer Support Specialist in both Addiction and Mental Health. Jessica serves as the Medina County Coordinator for OhioCAN (Change Addiction Now), Family First Council and their Trauma Informed Care Committee, Medina County Career Center Advisory Board, the United Way of Summit & Medina County Public Policy Committee and is a Class of 2019 Leadership Medina County graduate. Regi Haire - City Council Woman Ward 3
Regi Haire has lived most of her life in the great city of Medina and raised her daughters Sydney and Sierra Thomas here. Now that her daughters are adults she has more time and energy to give back to the community. Regi has a business degree from Cuyahoga Community College, an accounting degree from the University of Akron, and has worked as an Accountant, a Business Manager and a Coach for over 30 years. As a former Medina City Councilwoman, President of two Medina Non Profit Sports Associations, community volunteer, and over 21 years as an Accountant and Business Manager for a global engineering company, Regi has the experience making tough decisions, the financial background to keep the city fiscally responsible and on budget, and the ability to work with council and administration members to provide services to the residents of Medina to keep the city safe, clean, and a place we can continue to be proud to live in. Kristy Piper - City Council Women at Large Candidate
For the past 20 years Kristy Piper has been a staple in the Brunswick community. A graduate of the Baldwin-Wallace University Conservatory of Music, Kristy also holds Masters degees from Cleveland State University and the University of Akron. She began her teaching career at Towslee Elementary School in 2000 and, except for a six year stint at Brunswick High School, has been teaching there ever since! Excelling in her work with our youth, Kristy Piper has been named the VFW Post 9520 Teacher of the Year in 2006 and 2017 and was recognized as the Towslee Elementary School Teacher of the Year in 2019. She is an active member of the Brunswick Education Association and serves as a member of the Northeast Ohio Education Association Legislative Committee. A “Girls on the Run” head coach since 2012, Kristy also serves as music director and keyboardist at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Brunswick. Appointed in 2009, Patty has served on every single council standing committee in the city and has been re-elected five times by the citizens of Wadsworth. A graduate of the University of Akron, with post-graduate work at Akron and Kent State, Patty spent 34 years of her 36-year teaching career in the Wadsworth City School system. She served as the President of the Wadsworth Education Association for 15 years, oversaw the high school blood mobile for 25 years and directed school plays for 20 years. Patty’s community service has included the Wadsworth Women’s Club, Altar and Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Parish, Kiwanis and volunteering for the Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Auxiliary. Joy Martin - Ward 1 Council Candidate
For Wadsworth, caring and responsive A lifelong resident of Medina County, Joy Martin (nee Oberholtzer) is a graduate of Medina High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State University. While at Kent, Joy obtained her Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and helped finance her education by driving Kent sports teams to games and events throughout her undergraduate years. After graduation Joy was recruited to Penske Logistics as a dispatcher and, over the next two decades, assumed increasing responsibilities at the firm including Operations Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt and Project Manager. Responsible for revenue growth, operations and safety compliance, among others, Joy has been an integral part of Penske’s award winning performance, recently earning the Operator of the Year Award from the firm. A member of the Supply Chain Management Professionals, Joy also serves as the treasurer for the Wadsworth Grizzlies Lacrosse Club and is a board member of Akron Snow Angels, a non-profit dedicated to helping the less fortunate in our community. Justin Terrill - Ward 3 Council Candidate

An intelligence specialist in the United States Army, Justin deployed overseas twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a member of the storied 101st Airborne Division. Justin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Akron and his MBA from Cleveland State University. A four year member of the Wadsworth Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Mike and his wife attorney Michelle Reese, have been very active in the community. You may have seen them volunteering with Main Street Wadsworth, Wadsworth Young Professionals, ORMACO or at the Akron Art Museum or Stan Hywet. Rebecca Parkhurst - Medina City School Board
Rebecca (Becky) Parkhurst has lived in the school district since 2003. She received her bachelor's degree from Mount Union College (now University of Mount Union). She is currently an accountant for the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce. Becky has held the offices of Vice President and President on the Medina Weekday Preschool Board, been chair of various committees on the Ella Canavan Elementary School PTO and currently serves on the Medina City Schools PACE (Parents Advocating Challenge in Education) organization and actively volunteers in the schools. Jeanne Pritchard - Medina City School Board
Jeanne Pritchard is a life time resident of Medina and taught in the school system for 29 years after coming back to Medina from Vermillion. As a teacher she was active in a myriad of roles for student activities. She is probably best known for starting the girls golf program and then transitioning to the boys program where they became a state power. Pritchard graduated from Ohio State with a BS in Education and twenty years later received her Masters from Ashland in Curriculum/Instruction. In 1990 she was inducted into the Medina County Sports Hall of Fame and was a 2000 YWCA Woman of Distinction. She was also inducted into the Medina Schools Hall of Fame in 2005 and in 2014 inducted into the Ohio Golf Coaches Hall of Fame. Pritchard was the founder of the Medina City Schools Hall of Fame. She served for three years as the President of the Medina City Teachers Association during her career. Currently she serves as the President of the Nantucket Colony Condo Association on the south side of Medina. Jeanne believes that “every child can be successful and become a contributing member of the community.” She believes that the Portrait of a Graduate is an important piece for that success. She supports internships starting at the fifth grade level to expose students to all the careers that await them. She would also like to see a water safety program started for second graders to protect them and encourage them to swim. |
Joe Nichols - Medina City School Board
Joe Nichols has worked to give back to the community he grew up in. Joe works as a Web Developer at a software company in Strongsville. He was a coach for over 9 years, working with both youth league and high school soccer programs. Joe helped construct and continues to assist in maintaining the Medina Community Garden and Education Center. In 2021, he joined the City Charter Review Committee and worked to have a technology advisory board created in the city with members of the community. Joe also co-founded Mental Health Awareness Medina County with his wife, which supplies community members in need with a list of resources that can offer help to those that are struggling through mental, physical, and financial situations within the county. Joe is married to his wife, Leah, and they have a young son Liam. |
