The Medina County Democratic Party is made up of elected officials, 19 Executive Committee members, and dozens of Central Committee members. The goal of MCDP is to elect Democrats at the local, county, state, and federal level, and to provide Medina County with honest and transparent government. The Medina County Democratic Party is dedicated to expanding access to affordable healthcare, increasing the minimum wage, expanding labor and union protections, passing common sense firearm regulation, and providing equality to women, immigrants, people of color, and the LGBTQ community.

He became a Democratic celebrity in Ohio after a story in the New York Times detailed his journey from Republican to Democratic party leader in Shelby county, a red county in Ohio.
