Kristy Piper - City Council Women at Large Candidate
For the past 20 years Kristy Piper has been a staple in the Brunswick community. A graduate of the Baldwin-Wallace University Conservatory of Music, Kristy also holds Masters degees from Cleveland State University and the University of Akron. She began her teaching career at Towslee Elementary School in 2000 and, except for a six year stint at Brunswick High School, has been teaching there ever since! Excelling in her work with our youth, Kristy Piper has been named the VFW Post 9520 Teacher of the Year in 2006 and 2017 and was recognized as the Towslee Elementary School Teacher of the Year in 2019. She is an active member of the Brunswick Education Association and serves as a member of the Northeast Ohio Education Association Legislative Committee. A “Girls on the Run” head coach since 2012, Kristy also serves as music director and keyboardist at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Brunswick. Kristy and her husband Jeremy live on Fireside Drive with their son Jaden. |

Patty Haskins - Re-elect Council Woman At-Large
Experience you can Trust! Patty Haskins is the Dean of Wadsworth City Council! Appointed in 2009, Patty has served on every single council standing committee in the city and has been re-elected five times by the citizens of Wadsworth. A graduate of the University of Akron, with post-graduate work at Akron and Kent State, Patty spent 34 years of her 36-year teaching career in the Wadsworth City School system. She served as the President of the Wadsworth Education Association for 15 years, oversaw the high school blood mobile for 25 years and directed school plays for 20 years. Patty’s community service has included the Wadsworth Women’s Club, Altar and Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Parish, Kiwanis and volunteering for the Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Auxiliary. Patty is the mother of two children and grandmother to two grandchildren – Liam and Declan. |
Joy Martin - Ward 1 Council Candidate
For Wadsworth, caring and responsive A lifelong resident of Medina County, Joy Martin (nee Oberholtzer) is a graduate of Medina High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State University. While at Kent, Joy obtained her Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and helped finance her education by driving Kent sports teams to games and events throughout her undergraduate years. After graduation Joy was recruited to Penske Logistics as a dispatcher and, over the next two decades, assumed increasing responsibilities at the firm including Operations Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt and Project Manager. Responsible for revenue growth, operations and safety compliance, among others, Joy has been an integral part of Penske’s award winning performance, recently earning the Operator of the Year Award from the firm. A member of the Supply Chain Management Professionals, Joy also serves as the treasurer for the Wadsworth Grizzlies Lacrosse Club and is a board member of Akron Snow Angels, a non-profit dedicated to helping the less fortunate in our community. Joy and her husband Shane have a son and daughter in Wadsworth Schools and Joy Martin is dedicated to making Wadsworth a great and safe place for all the families and children in our community. Justin Terrill - Ward 3 Council Candidate
Proven Leadership…..Proven Success Working for You! Born and raised in Wadsworth, Justin Terrill is a proud 2004 graduate of Wadsworth High School. An intelligence specialist in the United States Army, Justin deployed overseas twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a member of the storied 101st Airborne Division. Justin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Akron and his MBA from Cleveland State University. Justin has worked for the Master Builders Solutions LLC (Previously BASF) since 2015 and is a member of VFW Post 1089 in Wadsworth as well as the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. He enjoys volunteering for numerous local non-profits including the Immune Deficiency Foundation and Lupus. Foundation of America in support of close family members who live with chronic illness. Justin and his wife Dusty are raising four children in the Wadsworth City School District. |
Michael Reese - Ward 4 Council Candidate
Our City, Our Future – Building it Together! Michael Reese is a graduate of the University of Akron and works as a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services in Wadsworth. A four year member of the Wadsworth Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Mike and his wife attorney Michelle Reese, have been very active in the community. You may have seen them volunteering with Main Street Wadsworth, Wadsworth Young Professionals, ORMACO or at the Akron Art Museum or Stan Hywet. Mike is proud to have his children attending the same outstanding school system he attended as a child and he will bring a vibrancy and fresh perspective to city leadership.
